Introduction to the Soil Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring System
The Soil Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring System is an automated solution for continuous measurement of key greenhouse gases including CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O. With support for up to 36 sampling chambers, the system enables data collection from multiple locations over extended periods, covering areas up to 2,800 m². This is a vital tool for environmental studies, climate change research, and soil ecosystem management.
The system functions by capturing gas emissions from soil to the atmosphere through closed dynamic chambers placed directly on the soil surface. As soil gases diffuse into the chamber, a gas analyzer records changes in concentration over time to calculate gas fluxes.
The system performs automated measurements according to pre-programmed cycles, allowing for:
24/7 long-term monitoring (weeks, months, or even years)
Scheduled data acquisition, enabling analysis of how weather, biological activity, and geochemical processes influence soil GHG dynamics
The soil GHG monitoring system is widely used across various research domains:
Climate change research: Track GHG emissions from soils to evaluate climate impact.
Agricultural and environmental management: Assess the effects of fertilizers, tillage practices, and land use on GHG emissions.
Soil science and carbon cycle studies: Investigate gas exchange between soil and atmosphere.
With a modular design, automated operation, and high-precision measurement, this system is indispensable for long-term research on greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable soil ecosystem management.
